EXCELC tutkimusryhmä kokoontui syyskuun alussa Lontoossa pidetyn erinomaisen ILPN konferenssin (ILPN 2016, Storify:ssa enemmän konferenssista) jälkeen. Konferenssissa oli paljon mielenkiintoisia esityksiä, joista osan piti EXCELC -hankkeen tutkijat. Laurie Batchelder esitteli preferenssitutkimuksen pilottitutkimuksesta nousseita havaintoja ja Ismo Linnosmaa ja Birgit Trukeschitz esittelivät tuloksia ASCOT mittarin käännöstyöhön liittyvistä pilottitutkimuksista Suomessa ja Itävallassa. Juliette Malley ja Julien Forder esittelivät pitkäaikaishoidon vaikuttavuuden ja kustannusvaikuttavuuden mittaamisen menetelmiä, joita on tarkoitus kehittää ja soveltaa EXCELC -hankkeessa.

EXCELC -hankkeen kokouksessa keskusteltiin kenttätöiden
etenemisestä Itävallassa ja Suomessa. Birgit Trukeschitz ja Assma Hajji kertoivat kenttätyön edistymisestä ja pilottihankkeen tuloksista Itävallassa ja Ismo Linnosmaa, Lien Nguyen ja Hanna Jokimäki kertoivat kenttätyön edistymisestä ja haastattelulomakkeiden pilotoinnista nousseista havainnoista Suomessa. Juliette Malley, Laurie Batchelder, Eirini Saloniki ja Julien Forder kertoivat preferenssitutkimuksen aineiston keruusta Itävallassa, Englannissa ja Suomessa. Aineiston keruusta vastannut taho on toimittanut valmiin aineiston tutkimusryhmälle, joka parhaillaan valmistelee aineistoa preferenssipainojen mittaamista varten. Keskustelimme myös suunnitelmistamme pitää tutkimushankkeen palaveri ensi vuoden helmikuussa Wienissä. Tähän kokoukseen on tarkoitus kutsua myös hankkeen ohjausryhmän jäseniä.

Anfang September 2016 fand in London die Konferenz des Internationalen Long-tern Care Policy Networks ( ILPN 2016) statt (siehe dazu auch Storify der Konferenz hier). Die ILPN 2016 war der Rahmen für zahlreiche interessante Präsentationen, darunter auch spannende Vorträge von Mitgliedern des EXCELC-Teams: Laurie Batchelder präsentierte einige Ergebnisse aus der kognitiven Testungsphase der Präferenzstudie. Ismo Linnosmaa und Birgit Trukeschitz lieferten aufschlussreiche Einblicke in die wichtigsten Erkenntnisse aus dem Übersetzungsprozess der ASCOT-Instrumente vom Englischen ins Finnische und Deutsche. Juliette Malley und Julien Forder präsentierten in diesem Rahmen ähnliche Arbeiten und Analysen, die zu einem Verständnis der Effektivität und Effizienz von Langzeitpflege beitragen und nun im Zuge der EXCELC-Studie verbessert und erweitert werden sollen.

Bei unserem Treffen zum Forschungsprojekt EXCELC (siehe Foto), das anschließend an die ILPN 2016 stattfand, diskutierten wir die Fortschritte, die sich in den einzelnen Feldphasen verzeichnen ließen. Birgit Trukeschitz und Assma Hajji informierten über die bisherige Vorgehensweise im Zuge der österreichischen Feldarbeit und über die Ergebnisse aus der Pilotphase. Juliette Malley, Laurie Batchelder, Eirini Saloniki und Julien Folder fassten die wichtigsten Resultate aus der Feldarbeit der Präferenzstudie zusammen, die nun in allen drei Ländern – Österreich, Finnland und England- abgeschlossen ist. Die Daten wurden uns von der Firma, die mit dem Online-Survey beauftragt wurde, übermittelt. In den nächsten Monaten werden diese von uns geprüft. Wir diskutierten auch unsere Pläne für das nächste EXCELC-Team-Meeting im Februar 2017, das in Wien stattfinden wird. Im Anschluss an das Projekttreffen wird auch das erste Treffen mit den Beratungsgruppen aus Politik, dem Pflegebereich und Wissenschaft (EXCELC Advisory Group) stattfinden.

Here are members of the EXCELC team catching-up following another excellent ILPN conference last week (also see Storify of the conference here).  There were lots of interesting presentations at the ILPN conference and some great ones from the members of the EXCELC team, with Laurie Batchelder presenting some findings from the development phase of the preference study and Ismo Linnosmaa and Birgit Trukeschitz presenting some reflections on the process of translating ASCOT into Finnish and German.  Juliette Malley and Julien Forder also presented on related work and analyses to understand the effectiveness and efficiency of long-term care that we plan to update and expand upon as part of the EXCELC study.

At our meeting we discussed the excellent progress being made in the fieldwork stages of this project.  Birgit Trukeschitz, Assma Hajji updated us on progress with the Austrian fieldwork, and outcome from the pilot. Ismo Linnosmaa , Lien Nguyen and Hanna Jokimaki similarly updated us on progress with the Finnish fieldwork and outcomes from the pilot. Juliette Malley, Laurie Batchelder, Eirini Saloniki and Julien Forder updated on progress with the fieldwork for the preference study across all three countries — Austria, England and Finland — which is now complete. Data has been sent to us by the fieldwork organisations and we are currently checking the data to make sure everything is looking OK. We also discussed our plans for our team meeting in February to be held in Vienna and the first meetings of the policy and scientific advisory groups.
